- Location: located in the southern part of Fujian province; between 118 04′ east longitude and 24 26′ north latitude
- Fujian’s Neighboring Areas: Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Guangdong and Taiwan.
- Physical Features: mainly downland, small plain near the sea; Xiamen island and continent is connected by the sea bank; wide gulf with deep water, without freezing and silting

- History: the administration organizational system of Xiamen has begun since Song dynasty, Ming built the city walls and established Xiamen as a major seaport and commercial centre; the city has significantly benefited from Taiwanese, overseas english and foreign investment and its designation as a Special Economic Zone in 1980.
- Climatic Features: subtropical monsoon climate; the black frost period last 364 days; the average wind power is 3 to 5 level, mainly the northeast wind.
- Average Temperature: annual average 20.8 ℃, with the absolute highest temperature of 38.4 ℃, lowest of 2 ℃. At this time of conference, Xiamen will experience temperatures of 8~18℃ (46/64
F). - Rainfall: the annual precipitation is 1100mm; concentrated on May, June and July.
- Time: Xiamen’s time is 8 hours of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT/UTC + 08:00 hour).
- Traffic: Xiamen International Airport is one of four leading international airports in China with excellent services and first-rate facilities. It has 57 air lines to and from places at home and abroad. It has direct flights to and from Hong Kong, Macao, Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Japan. However, the most convenient international transition would be in Shanghai, Hang Kong or Guangzhou (60-80 mins of flight to Xiamen).
- Currency: The Renminbi Yuan is only legal tender in China. Foreign currency exchange is available at the airport, Banks and some hotels.
- Electricity: 220 Volts 50 Hz throughout the country.
